My new work is about place. The eastern coastline of the U.S. in Maine has been my focus for several years.
I began painting at a very young age starting with private lessons from artist Donald Voorhees and went on to receive a BFA from Pratt Institute School of Art. After graduating I practiced graphic design in New York City and Portland, Maine. Now I’m focused on my love of creating fine art and I’m thankful to have moved to Down East Maine. Living in Cutler for several years my work has been influenced by all of the the natural beauty here. In the years 2020 through 2021 I produced a series of abstract works that were inspired by some of my idols like Paul Klee, Richard Diebenkorn, and Joseph Albers.
My current focus is on landscapes and seascapes. Whether the piece is abstract or representational my process is to use colors, shapes, and textures that are inspired by nature, music, or design. In the formation of the composition I use the visual elements to create an image that has balance and movement. My visual aesthetic originates from my experiences in natural and built environments.
My recent work is acrylic on 100% rag watercolor paper, acrylic on canvas, and Giclée prints. The prints are not reproductions of paintings, they are limited edition archival prints from digital paintings. My work is in private collections, corporate and public spaces, the online art galleries Zatista, Saatchi Art, and wholesale art reproductions printer Image Conscious.
